1. super fast shipping to California, USA. ~4-5 days.
2. great instructions for initial setup. Initial setup took about 10 minutes to set up the groundsheet, tent, and fly.
3. after the initial setup, this is the easiest thing ever to set up and pull down. Less than 2 minutes without rushing to setup: unpack, unroll, pump, and have ready. This deflates in 10 seconds and not hard to roll up. This thing is hardy to any weather and it is easy to set up in the worst weather/rain.
4. fits a fullsize air mattress.
5. perfect for car camping.
6. also, great high quality materials and superb engineering! I would feel comfortable riding it out really bad weather in this tent. There are small touches throughout the product: the pockets on the inside of the tent, while it didn't sell the product to me, were remarkably convenient.
Overall, yes the price is steep but you are getting quite the robust piece of equipment. Have a look at the refurbished selection. We purchased one and it appeared brand new and we would never have known it was refurbished.
Loved the bag. Well constructed, great internal organization, good looking.
Use this tent for more than 7 years. So far so good, especially for the great support when I experienced problem.
What is max pressure or ideal set up pressure for the cave?
Ordered Monday afternoon, delivered Tuesday afternoon! 👍🏼Top!!! Very nice, helpful and thoughtful telephone customer service!
As always from Heimplanet, good products, good quality, I visited the Hamburg Store a couple of times now. I love it. Small, but very nice and inspiring, good vibes from the team. The people know, what they are doing, very cool.
4.8kg is way too heavy...
Thank you for your feedback, Gerald. We understand that it may be too heavy to take on a mountain or trekking tour.
When developing THE CAVE, we tried to find a balance between stability, functionality and weight in order to offer a robust and reliable product. The current weight of 4.8 kg ensures an easy and intuitive set-up as well as the necessary stability and durability that many of our customers expect from HEIMPLANET products.
Super product, nice division of the compartments and great hanging system. I can only recommend it.
I bought this bag to keep it on my motorcycle, but it always with me, it's awesome!
My Backdoor tent came with a manufacturing defect in two of the struts. The original retailer was unable to rectify the problems so I contacted Heimplanet who were very helpful and offered a replacement for the cost of postage only - which seemed fair.
I was a bit concerned about how difficult it would be to replace the struts as there were no specific instruction for the Backdoor but it was actually surprisingly easy and gave me a much better understand of how the tent is put together and appreciation for some of the thought that has gone into the design.
I now have a fully working tent and a much better understanding how to deal with any strut problems I may encounter in the field.
Very flexble in that it can carry a lot of things, but it is also remain flat when not filled.
Really good thing, but i missed that strap poles are not included and now suffering without it. But it's still better to have tarp without poles than have nothing.
I have this one since 3.5 years. I use it all the time. I brought it in all my trips around the world. When I am hiking, if I go to the bar, if I go to festivals etc. It didn't move an inch, literally. Super high quality materials, and big. I absolutely did not regret my purchase.
I really love the thoughtful construction of the bag's interiors and the overall material is quite durable so I thought this was going to be the best bag I bought. However since using it everyday, I've noticed a major design flaw. I'm quite annoyed that the main strap and its metal connector is constantly slipping off from the side fabric, so the strap comes off easily. I don't understand why they didn't just sew the metal connector to the side fabric. Do I have to go to a tailor myself for this adjustment?
Been a traveler for work/play for decades and have gone through a lot of dopp kits until I found this one some years ago. The design and construction set it apart from all others, knew quickly upon use my hunt for the right kit was over. Have used it for years; it's held up remarkably well. HIGHLY recommended.
I saw this ingenious tent live in the Heimplanet-store in Hamburg and was immediately convinced. The inflatable "tent poles" are robust and the tent can be set up in no time at all. A big advantage compared to the (visually also very interesting) "CAVE" are the two shelters and thus the possibility of dry storage of shoes and equipment outside the inner tent. Compared to the "FISTRAL", which has a considerably smaller pack size and weight, the BACKDOOR convinces with a very generous amount of space, so that a family of 4 + equipment has plenty of room. Camping furniture can also be set up inside the tent for two in bad weather. In addition, only the BACKDOOR has two separate exits so that it can be ventilated crosswise in hot weather. All HEIMPLANET tents impress with very high material quality and a well thought-out concept as well as useful details such as ventilation that can be operated from the inside, good holders for the optional storm lines etc., the adapted Gear Loft as an additional storage option etc.). ). A clear recommendation to buy! And it's definitely worth taking a look at the Re-Store program .
I've had this sling for over a year. Perfect size for true EDC. Not too big, not too small. Fits the basics plus a little extra. Nice internal organization. Aesthetically I love how it looks - on my back it looks almost like a "bag of holding" in a good way.
Since it doesn't have any buckles it's a little tricky to get off/in without messing up my hair. Still love the bag and highly recommend.
Just recently bought the tarp, Dawn XL, hope only one set of these will be enough. Will be a great addition to my cave XL.
I thought it could be a good everyday backpack, because of the quick access zippers. Unfortunately it is not so usable as an everyday backpack, because it can't stand on it's own vertically. This is a big dealbreaker for public transportation and other everyday situations. Otherwise, the backpack has very good quality materials, the built in laptop sleeve is a bit tight but it can fit a 16" macbook pro easily, but it can't really fit the laptop with a sleeve already on it. The built in sleeve is soft enough though.
The sternum strap adjustment is way too difficult, sometimes you would like to slide it up or down as you do on other bags, to get more comfortable, but this design makes it impossible to do that.
Cool and functional backpack. Great for outdoor hiking or city commuting... I use it for both! Nice hidden functionalities... good workmanship.
Once you get to know this bag, it is a versatile and reliable travel companion. I've had this for about a year, and used on a few trips of around 3 - 5 days and there's ample space to pack everything needed. I'd say the Travel Pack is perfect as an airline carry-on or a daily carry. I really love the admin panel for storing tech, cables, notebooks. Fave features are the small details - the carry-handles on the top and the side + the ability to tuck in the shoulder-straps to the tuck-away pocket on the back.
The bag is almost perfect.
I would like to have dedicated small and shorter compression straps for the upper part of the bag, like the ones at the lower part of the bag. To attach more things at the side. Then I would have all in the same design.
