"Ghost nets - Battle for the Baltic Sea"

We were delighted to host another movie night on November 5th at our store in HafenCity, together with Surfrider and Sea Shepherd. We would like to thank all our guests for turning up in such large numbers. This evening was only possible thanks to the wonderful people at Surfrider Germany and Sea Shepherd!

FOCUS ON MARINE CONSERVATION

Together with Surfrider & Sea Shepherd Germany, we presented the impressive documentary "Ghost Nets – Battle for the Baltic Sea." The film once again highlighted the serious threat posed by lost fishing nets in the Baltic Sea. The silence in the room spoke for itself: everyone was visibly moved and focused.

Sea Shepherd crew members Alex, Michaela, and Josephine then provided deep insights into their missions, spoke openly about challenges at sea, and answered numerous questions. The discussion that ensued was intense, honest, and full of valuable perspectives—an exchange that will resonate for a long time to come.

AN EVENING FULL OF EXCHANGE

Around 70 ocean lovers joined us, Sea Shepherd, and Surfrider (one of our valued 1% for the Planet partners) at our HEIMPLANET store. The evening brought together people from a wide range of initiatives such as ProOcean, WDC, Aktiko, and Parents for Future Hamburg, impressively demonstrating the strength of the activist community in Hamburg.

For a few hours, our store was transformed into a stylish after-work cinema with a warm atmosphere, snacks, drinks, and space for real encounters. Many guests stayed long after the credits rolled to continue discussions, network, and take away new ideas. Thank you to everyone who made this evening possible, and to Surfrider and Sea Shepherd for their trusting cooperation. We look forward to many more Ocean Friendly evenings with you.
