ICELAND OFF SEASON
Oktawian takes his HEIMPLANET tents on a month-long solo road trip through Iceland's wild, ever-changing landscape.

NO VOICEOVER. NO RUSH. JUST NATURE.

Iceland away from the crowds.
Iceland. An Island far out on the Ocean. I´m fortunate to have had an opportunity to visit this majestic place many times, in the past few years.
This time I travelled with my car, a Jeep Wrangler, on a ferry from Denmark.
A somewhat long journey, if you compare with flying, that took me 4 days in one direction. The plan is to stay in Iceland for over a month to photograph the unique landscape, hike, bath in the hot springs, and simply enjoying the road-trip and camping in a tent. Visiting off the season, in April, makes it to be a quiet journey, rarely meeting other people on the road.
CLEAR AIR. CLEAR MIND.
There is something special about road-trips and sleeping in a tent. The feeling of connection with nature and surroundings. The crisp cold Arctic air. Taking a slow pace in the otherwise fast rushing world. Whenever I have a longer break from camping, I seek for excuse to jump in the car and go to camp, either by
a nearby lake, or further out in the mountains.

CHANGE IS GOOD.
Iceland is such a unique and geologically fresh place that you could almost mistake it for another planet. Vast green fields covered in moss, black lava beaches, deep red volcanic landscapes. When traveling here, the landscape changes in the blink of an eye. I had my film camera with me, a simple Panasonic handheld camera with a flip-up screen, accompanied by a drone. I often took it out of my bag whenever there was an opportunity to film the ever-changing and unique landscape. I present a short movie showing my road trip. This time with no particular plan or precise map - just a photographer following the Icelandic weather and enjoying the surroundings.
