TRUE CIRCULARITY
THE FUTURE IS TODAY. THE FUTURE IS MONO.
Welcome to the
Heimplanet family
Thank you for purchasing a Mono Series backpack and for believing in our vision for a more sustainable future. With your purchase, you are joining us on an exciting journey towards more environmentally friendly backpack designs.
"THE MOST ECO-FRIENDLY BACKPACK WE CAN MAKE TODAY."
Why your new backpack is important
The textile industry significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, resource use, and textile waste. Recycling can mitigate ecological impacts by saving water, energy, and chemicals and by reducing landfill use. Unfortunately, only a small percentage is currently recycled.
The backpack you are holding is the result of over two years of research and development in collaboration with leading material scientists from the Institute of Textile Technology at RWTH Aachen University and the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology. Together we were able to create a backpack that is not only fully recyclable but also allows for a recycling process that is efficient enough to be economically viable for recycling facilities.
Circular design
The Mono Series is a statement of our commitment to continuous development and positive change. These backpacks are made with our new and unique Dyecoshell™ Mono material, which is made from just one type of material: polyester. This allows for easy recyclability and significantly reduces the environmental impact.
While resource efficiency and durability have always been part of our design philosophy, the new mono-material concept allows us to finally close the product life cycle by ensuring full recyclability.
Thank you for being part of this important project. Together we are driving progress - one backpack at a time.
closing the loop - with MONO
Efficiency
Longevity
Like all products from Heimplanet the Mono Series comes with a lifetime guarantee to keep the pack in use for as long as possible.
Recyclability
This means that at the end of its life cycle, your backpack becomes a resource again instead of waste.
OUR product life cycle
Our aim is to promote sustainability by extending the life of our products. We aim to reduce waste and conserve resources by focusing on correct use, care and repair as well as our re-store program.
Every step is designed to maximize the longevity of your product and help our users make more sustainable choices. With the new Mono Series Minimal Pack, we are now able to work in a completely closed loop.
01 USE
All Heimplanet-products are designed for a long service life. You don't have to be overcautious, but we would still like to give you a few tips on how to get the best out of your backpack.
Overloading/overstuffing:
All of the bag's features are extremely robust. However, overloading or overstuffing can stress the handles, seams and zippers and reduce their lifespan. So pack carefully and your bag will last even longer.
Direct sunlight:
Prolonged exposure to sunlight can fade and weaken the material. Of course, this does not mean that you should not travel to sunny regions! If possible, simply place the backpack in the shade when you take a break - the backpack will thank you for it.
Handling:
If possible, avoid contact with oils or dirt so as not to damage the waterproof coating. Be careful with sharp objects to avoid scratches or tears.
02 CARE
Cleaning:
Wipe your bag regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For a more thorough clean, use a damp cloth with mild soap - avoid harsh chemicals. Alternatively, you can rinse the empty bag with lukewarm water and a gentle shower. Allow it to air dry completely before using or storing it.
Storage:
Store the bag in a dust bag or pillowcase to protect it from dust and light. Stuff it with a pillow or similar to maintain its shape and avoid hanging it up loaded as this can distort the shape.
Maintain water resistance:
Over time, the water-repellent protection of the fabric can wear off. You can renew this by applying a PFAS-free, water-repellent spray to the clean, dry bag - then leave to dry completely. The inner coating remains water-repellent and protects the contents even if the outer coating loses its repellency.
AVOID
Washing machine/dryer: These can cause permanent damage.
Ironing: Extreme heat can deform or melt synthetic fabrics.
Excessive moisture: Too much water can damage the inner and outer material.
Cleaning agents that are too aggressive: Avoid abrasive or chemical cleaning agents.
Improper storage: Do not store the bag in damp or poorly ventilated rooms, as this can lead to mold and odors.
03 Repair
If you notice any major damage, please contact a professional repair service or contact us via service@heimplanet.com or use our contact form.
TIPS FOR SELF-REPAIRS
Seams and tears:
For small tears or loose seams, use a needle and a strong thread in the same color as the bag. Sew the area carefully and reinforce the weak areas with additional stitches.
Zipper repair:
If a zipper is stuck, try lubricating it with a small amount of beeswax or a graphite pencil. If the zipper is broken, the entire zipper may need to be replaced. This can be done at home with a repair kit or by a professional.
Handles and straps:
If a handle or strap comes loose, secure it with strong thread and make sure the stitching is tight and secure. In the event of more serious damage, the handle or strap should be replaced.
Hardware replacement:
Defective metal parts such as buckles, fasteners or rivets can be found in craft or repair stores. Remove the old hardware with suitable tools and fit the new parts.
04 Re-store
If you no longer use your backpack, our Re-Store program offers you the opportunity to extend the life of used HEIMPLANET goods. The returned bag is cleaned, refurbished and resold at a reduced price to reduce waste and promote reuse.
How to take part:
Send us your used HEIMPLANET product by filling out the form. You will receive up to 20% of the original purchase price back as a voucher. This helps to reduce unnecessary consumption and make the most of what is already produced!
Process:
After submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation email with the next steps. The products will be checked and processed in our showroom in Hamburg's Hafencity. Depending on the condition, you will receive a voucher for between 10% and 20% of the purchase price. If you have the original invoice or receipt, please attach it to your email to speed up processing.
Thank you for supporting this project - we look forward to your contribution!
Scroll all the way down to the RE-STORE page and use the contact form.
05 Recycle
HOW TO RECYCLE YOUR BAG:
Unfortunately, if your bag is beyond repair, it's time to say goodbye, turn it in and turn it into a resource for something "new". To drop off your bag for recycling, please contact service@heimplanet.com or use our contact form.
FULL RECYCLABILITY:
Our mono-material concept has been tested by external specialists to ensure that Dyecoshell™ Mono can be recycled as intended. The two-year development process was supported by the Institute of Textile Technology at RWTH Aachen University and the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology.
